Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival Nairobi- Fly Amboseli

You will be picked up by our driver from your Nairobi hotel at 6 am who will transfer you to Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli, departing at 08:15 am. You will arrive in Amboseli in at 09:15am. You will be picked up by the camp’s driver who will drive you to the camp with a game drive en-route. Check in and later enjoy lunch, then relax before your afternoon game drive of 2 hours at 4 pm. Your stay Includes: Full Board Accommodation, all meals and drinks (excluding champagne, private cellar wines and spirits), shared and scheduled game drives, guided walking safari, sundowners and transfers to and from our designated airstrips and laundry. Game Package also includes a $35 per person Kitirua Conservancy Fee. Return later to the camp for dinner and overnight stay at Tortilis Camp. Meal Plan: Lunch, Dinner.

Day 2 Amboseli National Park - Tortilis Camp Amboseli

Full day with Morning and afternoon game drives to view wildlife against the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park offers a wide variety of wildlife but the principal attraction is its vast herds of elephant within the park. The bull elephants here have some of the largest tusks in Kenya. Other game includes: zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, leopard, caracal and serval cat. The park boasts a rich bird life such as ibis, egret, avocet, common and saddle-billed stork, secretary bird, heron, vultures, ducks, and geese. Your stay Includes: Full Board Accommodation, all meals and drinks (excluding champagne, private cellar wines and spirits), shared and scheduled game drives, guided walking safari, sundowners and transfers to and from our designated airstrips and laundry. Day 3 Masai Mara Game Reserve - Kichwa Tembo Classic Tent

Transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi Wilson departing at approx. 08:35hours to arrive approx. 09:40hours. To connect to your Mara flight that departs at 10:00Hours and arrive Mara at 11:00Hours. Met on arrival in Masai Mara and be transferred in Camp’s shared vehicle to your Camp. Rest of the programme will be as per the schedule of the Camp. Meals and overnight at Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. Your Stay Includes: Accommodation, three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirit and beers, teas and coffees, refreshments on game drives, two safari activities per day, laundry, emergency medical evacuation insurance and transfers to and from the lodge airstrip. Day 4&5 Masai Mara National Reserve - &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp

Two Full Days Morning & afternoon game drives in this spectacular game reserve, all with superb photographic opportunities. Apart from the seasonal migration, game viewing is excellent year round. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Follow the Mara River to see crocodiles basking in the sun, hippos as they wallow in muddy water and monkeys busy sparking mischief overhead. Here, too, you may sight any of more than 400 species of birds, among them eagles who glide effortlessly above the sun-soaked landscape. Game includes: - elephant, Black Rhino, buffalo, wildebeest, Burchell’s zebra, hartebeest, various antelope and gazelle, lion, leopard, giraffe, cheetah, hippo, crocodile and much more. Today you might opt to visit a Maasai Village (price not included) for a very special cultural experience. Day 6 Depart Maasai Mara, Fly Nairobi

You'll have early morning game drives and later return for breakfast at the lodge. Check-out and then proceed to the airstrip with a game viewing drive on the way. Your Nairobi scheduled flight will depart Mara at 11:00AM and arrive Nairobi at 12:20PM. Upon landing in Nairobi, you will be transferred to your hotel or airport. January

The herds are moving into the southern plains of the Serengeti, around Ndutu, Kusini, and Naabi. The short grasses here are rich in nutrients, preparing the females for calving.

February

This is the peak calving month. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest calves are born, often within a few weeks of each other. This spectacle attracts a high concentration of predators, making it an excellent time for predator-prey sightings.

March

The calves are a few weeks old and growing quickly. The herds begin to spread out as they continue to graze on the southern plains, preparing for the long journey north.

April

The long rains begin, prompting the herds to start their movement northwest. They form long columns as they begin their trek through the central Serengeti.

May

The migration gathers momentum, with vast columns of wildebeest stretching for miles. The herds congregate in the Western Corridor, and the mating season, or "the rut," begins.

June

The dry season starts, and the wildebeest face their first major challenge: the Grumeti River. Thousands of animals must cross this crocodile-infested river, creating dramatic and intense encounters.

July

The herds continue their journey north, with many arriving in the northern Serengeti. The Grumeti River crossings are in full swing, and some of the first herds may begin to cross the even more treacherous Mara River.

August

This is one of the best months to witness the famous Mara River crossings. The herds are spread out across the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara, making multiple crossings back and forth over the river in search of greener pastures.

September

The river crossings continue, though the intensity may decrease. Large numbers of wildebeest are now grazing in the fertile plains of the Maasai Mara in Kenya.

October

As the dry season approaches its climax, the wildebeest start to slowly move back into the Serengeti from the Maasai Mara, heading east and south.

November

The short rains begin, signaling the herds to make a decisive move south towards the replenished plains of the eastern Serengeti. They make their way through the Lobo and Loliondo areas.

December

The wildebeest arrive back on the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. They are widely dispersed, feeding on the fresh grass and getting ready for the next calving season.
