Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Nairobi - Nairobi Serena Hotel

On upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and welcomed met and greet by an Image Travel Limited representative who will arrange and transferred to your Nairobi Hotel for Overnight at Nairobi Serena Hotel on bed and Breakfast.

Day 2 Ol pejeta Conservancy - Sweetwaters Serena Camp

After breakfast we travel to Nanyuki with a brief stop at the equator line for photos then proceed to Olpejeta Ranch where you will check-in for lunch at the camp. The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is situated on the equator, west of Nanyuki between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya. The Conservancy boasts of the largest Black Rhino sanctuary in East Africa and in 2013 reached a population milestone of 100 black rhinos. It also houses the three remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here and provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned, and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where these great apes can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the “Big Five” among a large selection of other African animals. Day 3 Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Full day spent in the Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy with early morning and late afternoon game drive, our camp also overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in the area and offers elephant, giraffe, and myriad plains game. In fact, Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and salt lick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining, or relaxing by the pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight. Day 4 Lake Nakuru National Park - Sarova Lionhill Lodge

Depart Ol Pejeta Conservancy after breakfast for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at the Park in time for lunch. In the afternoon a game drive is planned. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lionhill Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 5 Masai Mara National Reserve - Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Depart after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Masai Mara Game Reserve arriving at the Lodge/ camp in time for lunch. Check in at the lodge have lunch relax a bit. Afternoon game drive that introduces to this vast game filled reserve. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 6 Masai Mara National Reserve - Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the big 5. Optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 450 per person. Dinner and overnight stay at Mara Serena Lodge. Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. Mara is the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti Tanzania in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures. Day 7 Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha - Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge

After breakfast at your hotel, drive to Lake Naivasha – the highest and purest of the Great Rift Valley lakes. This area is famous for its birdlife – a breeding ground for pelicans, fish eagles, cormorants and more. You will also find other animals such as hippos, zebras, antelopes, colobus monkeys. Optional boat rides at the lake viewing hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles and others animals at cost of $40 person. Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge on Full board basis. Day 8 Amboseli National Park - Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

After breakfast you drive to Amboseli National Park, which is famous for its scenery with a backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which dominates the landscape, and open plains. Arrive with more game drive proceeding to your lodge for check-in, in time for lunch. Check in at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. Have lunch and a short rest. Afternoon game drive in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their opponents like the Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Hippo with a view of Mt Kilimanjaro. Later Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 9 Amboseli National Park - Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

Early breakfast followed by a morning game drive in the park. Amboseli offers opportunities such as viewing Large Herds of Elephants, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Big Five, visiting the Observation Hill which allows an overall view of the whole park especially the swamps and elephants, Swamp below observation hill hosts many elephants, buffaloes, hippos and a variety of water fowls like pelican, Egyptian goose, Contemporary Masai culture and indigenous lifestyle. Afternoon game-drive. Optional visit to a Masai village is available as this is the home of the Masai people each person pays US$30. Here you learn about their tribal social systems, customs and the place of the Masai in today’s Africa. Residents live in their Manyatta, or village, much as they have for centuries & a visit gives you an opportunity to see the interior of these mud-hut homes, spotless & unadorned, contrasted with the Maasai themselves, bedecked with brilliantly colored beads and cloths. Day 10 Tsavo West National Park - Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Early morning game drives return to your lodge for breakfast. After breakfast leave Amboseli for Tsavo West. The drive will be less than 3hours to Tsavo West. Game en-route from the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal clear water gushing out of from the under parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs to the Shetani lava flows with. You will have a visit to Mzima Springs where you can see hippos and fish in a crystalline clear water. There are possibilities of seeing crocodiles and monkeys. Later proceed to your lodge for check-in and lunch. Check in at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge. Later in the afternoon you will go for more game drives. Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos. Day 11 Diani Beach Mombasa - Swahili Beach Resort

Breakfast and drive to Mombasa, then cross the ferry into South Coast where the sun, sand and sea awaits. Check in to the Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa, situated on the beautiful white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean, at Diani Beach of Mombasa. A luxury beach resort, it features a unique blend of traditional Swahili and Arabic architecture. The resort is surrounded by over 10 acres of mature tropical gardens and coconut palms. Here you will be for the next 4nights. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Swahili Beach Resort on half board meal plan.

Day 12-14 Swahili Beach Resort

Three days spent at leisure on the beach. Activities at the hotel include (some are available at an extra cost) swimming, snorkelling, a PADI diving school, nature walks, floodlit tennis court, volleyball, squash court, fitness centre, pool games, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, Petanque, tables tennis, water aerobics, windsurfing, pool tables, bird watching. Also available nearby are: The Wasini/Kisite Island Marine National Park, 18 Holes Golf Course, Shops/supermarkets, Casinos, Nightclubs. Day 15 Diani Beach Mombasa fly back to Nairobi

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport to take a domestic flight from Diani to Wilson to Jomo Kenyatta Airport where you will catch your International flight back home. End of safari.

January

The herds are moving into the southern plains of the Serengeti, around Ndutu, Kusini, and Naabi. The short grasses here are rich in nutrients, preparing the females for calving.

February

This is the peak calving month. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest calves are born, often within a few weeks of each other. This spectacle attracts a high concentration of predators, making it an excellent time for predator-prey sightings.

March

The calves are a few weeks old and growing quickly. The herds begin to spread out as they continue to graze on the southern plains, preparing for the long journey north.

April

The long rains begin, prompting the herds to start their movement northwest. They form long columns as they begin their trek through the central Serengeti.

May

The migration gathers momentum, with vast columns of wildebeest stretching for miles. The herds congregate in the Western Corridor, and the mating season, or "the rut," begins.

June

The dry season starts, and the wildebeest face their first major challenge: the Grumeti River. Thousands of animals must cross this crocodile-infested river, creating dramatic and intense encounters.

July

The herds continue their journey north, with many arriving in the northern Serengeti. The Grumeti River crossings are in full swing, and some of the first herds may begin to cross the even more treacherous Mara River.

August

This is one of the best months to witness the famous Mara River crossings. The herds are spread out across the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara, making multiple crossings back and forth over the river in search of greener pastures.

September

The river crossings continue, though the intensity may decrease. Large numbers of wildebeest are now grazing in the fertile plains of the Maasai Mara in Kenya.

October

As the dry season approaches its climax, the wildebeest start to slowly move back into the Serengeti from the Maasai Mara, heading east and south.

November

The short rains begin, signaling the herds to make a decisive move south towards the replenished plains of the eastern Serengeti. They make their way through the Lobo and Loliondo areas.

December

The wildebeest arrive back on the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. They are widely dispersed, feeding on the fresh grass and getting ready for the next calving season.
