Day 2 Kampala- Murchison Falls (6 hours drive)
Begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking is a must. Day 3 Murchison Falls National Park
After your cup of coffee, cross the Nile by ferry to the northern bank of the park. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild's giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the "Devil's Cauldron". En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob crocodile. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. There you leave the boat and start your - quite heavy - hike to the Top of the Falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world's longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge. Day 4 Murchison Falls-Kibale (8 hours drive)
All day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Meals and overnight at Meals and overnight at Kyaninga Lodge (Luxury) and Primate Lodge Kibale (Mid-range). Day 5 Chimpanzee Trekking Kibale-Queen Elizabeth (3 hours drive)
In the morning you will have breakfast to transfer to Kibale Head quarters for briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search for chimpanzees. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms making it interesting. The walk will reward you with other primates like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed. After chimp trekking drive to Queen Elizabeth ready for an evening two-hour Boat cruise along the famous Kazinga channel is worthwhile an opportunity to see Hippo, Bufallo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also enables visitor chance to see spectacular birds. Day 6 Queen Elizabeth-Bwindi (6 hours drive)
Begin your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs lakes and a variety of birds. Thereafter drive through the Ishasha Sector; this takes you through the unique western rift valley escarpment. If time allows take on a mini game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions before proceeding to Bwindi forest National Park. Day 7 Bwindi Gorilla Trekking
Begin the day with breakfast ready for trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots etc The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but its well worth the effort. The afternoon is spent on leisure and relaxation at your lodge. Day 8 Bwindi NP – Lake Mburo NP (5 hours drive)
After your breakfast, you will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park which borders the Tanzanian plains through Mbarara town arriving in time for lunch. After proceed for boat cruise on Lake Mburo to see hippos, Zebras, Elands, Bufallos along the shores and spectacular birds. Day 9 Lake Mburo NP – Entebbe (4.5 hours drive)
After breakfast, head for Horse riding which is an awesome way to see the wildlife around the park for 2 hours. Without the noise of an engine you can hear so much more and you really feel part of nature. Riding a horse means you often get the chance to see more timid animals including Elands, buffalos, warthog, topi, impala, duiker, bushbuck, waterbuck, zebra as the animals graze where the grass is the most delicious and if you are lucky enough, you can see 2 leopards on a horse ride! However, this was a very rare sighting. Watching animals from a horse is so peaceful and a totally different experience from being on a game drive; zebras come towards you to check out the strange relative without stripes. Even the eland that are usually very shy, look curiously at the horses without running away, but keep their distance. After lunch you will visit Igongo Cultural centre to explore the cultures of Ankole tribes where the future meets the past. Then after you proceed to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at Equator for snacks and photos. Later you will be driven to Entebbe for your evening flight back home Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch. END OF SERVICE
The herds are moving into the southern plains of the Serengeti, around Ndutu, Kusini, and Naabi. The short grasses here are rich in nutrients, preparing the females for calving.
February
This is the peak calving month. Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest calves are born, often within a few weeks of each other. This spectacle attracts a high concentration of predators, making it an excellent time for predator-prey sightings.
March
The calves are a few weeks old and growing quickly. The herds begin to spread out as they continue to graze on the southern plains, preparing for the long journey north.
April
The long rains begin, prompting the herds to start their movement northwest. They form long columns as they begin their trek through the central Serengeti.
May
The migration gathers momentum, with vast columns of wildebeest stretching for miles. The herds congregate in the Western Corridor, and the mating season, or "the rut," begins.
June
The dry season starts, and the wildebeest face their first major challenge: the Grumeti River. Thousands of animals must cross this crocodile-infested river, creating dramatic and intense encounters.
July
The herds continue their journey north, with many arriving in the northern Serengeti. The Grumeti River crossings are in full swing, and some of the first herds may begin to cross the even more treacherous Mara River.
August
This is one of the best months to witness the famous Mara River crossings. The herds are spread out across the northern Serengeti and the Maasai Mara, making multiple crossings back and forth over the river in search of greener pastures.
September
The river crossings continue, though the intensity may decrease. Large numbers of wildebeest are now grazing in the fertile plains of the Maasai Mara in Kenya.
October
As the dry season approaches its climax, the wildebeest start to slowly move back into the Serengeti from the Maasai Mara, heading east and south.
November
The short rains begin, signaling the herds to make a decisive move south towards the replenished plains of the eastern Serengeti. They make their way through the Lobo and Loliondo areas.
December
The wildebeest arrive back on the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. They are widely dispersed, feeding on the fresh grass and getting ready for the next calving season.
